David Ferguson

Managing General Partner

David was one of the four original founders of VenGrowth’s® retail funds, and was one of the three partners on VenGrowth’s Operating Committee responsible for the firms day-to-day operations and strategic initiatives. With 33 years experience in private equity and investment banking, David has a wealth of experience in coaching venture-backed companies through their various growth phases. David has been an active participant on the board of directors of numerous VenGrowth investees, where he routinely contributed his expertise in setting strategic direction, developing operating budgets, management recruiting and financing and exit strategies. David has been involved in a number of successful Canadian companies and have assisted these companies to go on to complete initial public offerings (both TSX and NASDAQ), or to be acquired by larger, multinational companies. Prior to joining VenGrowth, David was co-founder of a corporate finance firm, and was a member of the Corporate Finance Department of Nesbitt Thomson Deacon Inc. David is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) and holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from the University of Western Ontario.

Allen Lupyrypa

Managing General Partner Allen was one of the four original founders of VenGrowth’s® retail funds, and was one of the three partners on VenGrowth’s Operating Committee responsible for the firms day-to-day operations and strategic initiatives. Over the past 33 as a lead investor behind many private equity transactions Allen has gained extensive experience is all facets of structuring and negotiating private equity transactions. He has actively assisted investees with funding requirements and provided guidance to VenGrowth’s portfolio of venture-backed companies at key stages of their growth and strategic development. Many of the companies that Allen has overseen have been exited through successful acquisitions by multinational acquirers. Allen has served as a member of the board of directors of many past VenGrowth investee companies. He has been involved with all facets of development, including multiple acquisitions, financings, key management placements, strategic partnering, and expense management initiatives. Before joining VenGrowth, Allen was with the merchant banking arm of a Canadian Schedule I bank. Allen served as a member of the Canadian venture capital community and was a former Director of the Canadian Venture Capital Association (CVCA), past Co-Chair of the Statistics, Reporting and Valuation Committee and was a member of The Investment Funds Institute of Canada’s Fair Valuing Working Group, focusing on the valuation of private companies. Allen is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) and holds a Bachelor of Commerce (B. Comm. Honours) degree.
